The Vaccine is Here - Worth a Shot?

Image
After seemingly endless months of what could be considered false promises, this much is true; the vaccine has arrived. As of this week, we are seeing mass amounts of COVID-19 vaccination distributed amongst those who most certainly deserve it most: Healthcare. Despite the tremendous work of the pharmaceutical companies, we are seeing a large quantity of Americans openly refusing the vaccination.  This mindset begs the question: Are they crazy? Or perhaps... Is the vaccination crazy? At this point in time, the only public information regarding the vaccination is derived from the fact that while the traditional vaccine needs 3-5 years to develop (testing, trials, etc.), we have an epidemic vaccine within 12 months. Additionally, we know Johnson & Johnson needed to pause their entire vaccine trial after " severe unexplained illness".  What is your opinion regarding the vaccine? Would you accept the first trial? Prefer to wait for a second/third trial? Or deny the vaccine ent...

Exercising With a Mask - More Harm Than Good?

Amidst the nationwide COVID-19 response, we are seeing a plethora of strategies and tactics to " slow the spread " of the virus. As of late, we've seen public mandate from exercise entities calling all individuals within the boundaries of the facility to wear a mask at all times; including during moderate-to-vigorous physical activity. With these potential dangers present, it begs the question - What even is the answer? Should these exercise entities even be open? Many will argue that physical well-being is an "essential" , and I would agree wholeheart...

Staying Well During COVID-19 - With or Without the Gym      For better or for worse (and likely the latter), COVID-19 has had a tremendous impact on the physical and mental health and wellness of humanity across the world. While the pandemic and it's associated recreational suspensions can certainly be frustrating, we must continue to at least attempt to see the silver lining in all circumstances. Although this mindset can appear daunting, it is quite attainable.     Quarantining at home, while undoubtedly monotonous and lonesome, provides us with an excellent opportunity to check-in with ourselves. Too often, we tend to become so engulfed in a routine that we omit our own physical and mental well-being. Use this time wisely. Start a new book and escape for a short while. Discover and attempt a new healthy recipe to surprise a family or friend. Develop your own at-home fitness routine (resources below). Start a weekly game night, or a new tradition with your lov...
